Jyoti Mhapsekar is one of the founding members of Stree Mukti Sanghatana and currently serves as the organization’s President. She is a renowned playwright and has written numerous plays on women’s issues, children’s education, child labour, waste management and the environment. She has participated in several International Women Playwrights conferences and was Convener of VIII conference in 2009. Currently, she is member of the advisory committee of Women Playwrights International. As an activist, she has participated in many awareness campaigns for women’s issues going back to 1975. She has participated in several national and International conferences on Womens’ Rights, Environment and Solid Waste Management. She is Ashoka fellow and has received several awards for her contribution to Womens’ Cause. She took voluntary retirement from her Job of a Librarian in College and works full time with SMS.
Sharada Sathe (Secretary) B.A.
Sharada Sathe is one of the Founding members of Stree Mukti Sanghatana and serves as organisation’s Secretary. She started her career as labour lawyer and then since 1985 devoted all her time and energy to Stree Mukti Sanghatana and Women’ Cause. She is the Chief Editor of SMS Magazine Prerak Lalkari (Clarion Call) since 1986. Sharada served as a member on the First Women’s Commission appointed by Government of Maharashtra from 1991 to 1994. She is a vivid writer and contributes articles to several Newspapers and magazines. She has also translated many Political and Economical books from English to Marathi and has received several awards for her contribution to Women’s Movement and Literature.
Amol Kerkar (Vice President) B.Sc.
Amol Kerkar is one of the Founding members of Stree Mukti Sanghatana and serves as organisation’s Vice President. She is on the editorial Board of SMS Magazine Prerak Lalkari (Clarion Call) since 1986 and has contributed several articles for the same. She is also on the coordination committee of Family Counseling Centers and contributes to the theoretical discussions in formulating various policies of SMS. Amol has also written booklet on Women, Science and technology. She serves as an officer in Reserve Bank of India.
Neelima Deshpande (Joint Secretary) B.Sc.
Neelima Deshpande is one of the Founding members of Stree Mukti Sanghatana and serves as organisation’s Joint Secretary. She is on the Coordination Committee of SMS Adolescent Sensitization Programme and Day care centers. She serves as a Technician in Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
Pradnya Saraf (Treasurer) B. E.
Pradnya Saraf joined SMS when she first saw the play Mulagi Zali Ho in 1985. Since then she has acted in thousands of performances of the several plays performed by SMS. She is also the member of Coordination Committee of SMS Adolescent Sensitization Programme and Family Counseling Centers. As a professional Electrical Engineer she serves in Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
Dr. Mrinal Sathe joined SMS in 1979 and acted in several performances of the plays performed by SMS. She has written a booklet on women’s issues for SMS and has participated in several campaigns and activities of SMS as and when required. She is a professor of Zoology in the renowned college of Mumbai.
Shakuntala Gujar (Member) S.S.C.
Shakuntala Gujar joined SMS in 1985 as a volunteer in the First Family Counseling center. Soon she acquired the skills of counseling and devoted all her time for counseling distressed women. She is a home maker.
Maya Kabre (Member) B. A. Diploma in Lib. Science
Maya Kabre joined SMS in 1982 and has been participating in several activities of SMS since then. She is member of the coordination committee in Navi Mumbai branch of SMS and devotes her time in Family counseling center. She has taken Voluntary retirement from her job as an Assistant librarian from a renowned college in navi Mumbai.
Yogini Raul (Member) M.A. B.Com.
Yogini Raul joined SMS when she first saw the play Mulagi Zali Ho in 1985. Since then she acted in hundreds of performances of the play performed by SMS. She is on the editorial Board of SMS Magazine Prerak Lalkari (Clarion Call) and has contributed several articles for the same. She has taken voluntary retirement from I.D.B.I. Bank.
