For Gender Equity & Gender Justice

— Who We Are

Five Decades of Forging Equality

Established in 1975, Stree Mukti Sanghatana has been working towards women empowerment for over four decades. The play "Mulgi Zali Ho" (Girl is Born) opened doors for women to interact and share their problems with us.

The family counselling centres, in-house monthly publication "Prerak Lalkari", programs for adolescents, day care centres, and programs for waste pickers all commenced operations to enable sustainable livelihoods for women.

What Our Community Is Saying

Real voices. Real impact. The people powering five decades of feminist organising.

★★★★★

"After two decades alongside Jidnyasa, I can say with certainty: this is a life-teaching course, not a workshop. The young people we work with grow — but so do we, the communicators. The program keeps enriching everyone it touches."

★★★★★

"Jidnyasa is a genuinely trend-setting program in Maharashtra. It models how to talk to adolescents about mental and sexual health, careers and addiction honestly — and it has earned the trust of state governments, UNICEF, UNFPA, and municipal corporations to deliver at scale."

"SMS day-care centres are different. Parents are free of the daily burden of packed meals. Children of every class and faith eat, play, and take care of each other like family — and we, the staff, grow up right alongside them."

★★★★★

"Our day-care centres inside SEEPZ, RBI and BPCL have been welcomed for over fifteen years. Employers fold them into staff-welfare schemes, parents trust them, and the children form real bonds with our team. The result is the healthiest possible workplace childcare model."
